This Is The Place!

Three years ago, I moved from Barcelona to Chicago.

Among many other things, relocating to the US allowed me to:

  • Obtain the ATA certification (EN>ES)

  • Expand my client portfolio

  • Work full-time as a freelance provider of language services

It has been a very fruitful experience here in America so far:

  • My business AM Language Services was recently awarded Best Professional Language Services SME (Midwest – USA) at the 2019 AI Corporate Immigration & Relocation Awards.

  • Last year, I was nominated for Best Overall Professional Translator's Website at the 2018 ProZ Community Choice Awards.

The following might sound cheesy, but love is the reason why I moved to the United States in the first place. For that same reason, I have chosen to relocate permanently to Salt Lake City.

Here are a few interesting facts about the capital of the state of Utah:

  • While the population of Salt Lake City is around 200,000 inhabitants, Salt Lake County encompasses more than 1 million inhabitants.

  • Salt Lake City lies in a valley with an average elevation of 4,330 feet (1,320 meters) and is surrounded by mountains that can reach up to 11,260 feet (3,432 meters).

  • The city is named after the Great Salt Lake, which is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere.

  • Before being settled by the Mormon Pioneers in 1847, the area had been inhabited by Native American tribes, such as the Shoshone, the Ute, and the Paiute.

One of the good things about my profession is that, as long as I have my computer and a reliable Internet connection, I can work from anywhere.

I look forward to this new stage of my life. In the meantime, and as usual, I'm here to help you if you need to connect with your Catalan and Spanish speaking audiences!
